Such conduct may violate federal law, including the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (18 U.S.C. § 1030) and the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (18 U.S.C. §§ 2510–2523), and state law, including the Illinois computer crime statutes (720 ILCS 5/17-50 et seq.), as well as Lewis University policy. Violations may result in criminal prosecution, civil liability, and university disciplinary action. Suspected violations will be reported to the appropriate authorities.
